Skills Trainer
As a Skills Trainer your role will be providing support, training, and direction through coaching and mentoring to individuals with disabilities/disadvantages working in the community.
This is a part time, flexible position. You will work in collaboration with the job developer or supervisor on any significant issues that occur at the job site.
Responsibilities include implementing training plans, coaching and mentoring (may include re-showing work tasks, providing verbal cues or visual aids etc.)

Job Summary
Attend work with an individual(s) that is disabled or disadvantaged to provide support, training and direction through coaching and mentoring.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Accompanies clients to work site and monitors work activities.
- Works with the Placement Specialist to implement Skills Training plans.
- Works with the Placement Specialist to break down job tasks to assist client in performing duties.
- Works with the Placement Specialist to implement job duty checklists at worksites to assist consumers in tracking and completing tasks.
- Follows instructions and documents observed activities at On-the-Job Assessments sites.
- Coaches and mentors clients (may include re-showing tasks; providing verbal cues or visual aids etc.)
- Communicates regularly with the Placement Specialist regarding client’s progress, performance concerns, questions, and issues with the client’s employer.
- Works under the direction of the Placement Specialist to assist with educating the employer and developing natural supports in the workplace.
- Provides motivation and support to clients on the job.
- Maintains case records, case notes and progress reporting systems in compliance with agency standards.
- Records and retrieves program evaluation data as required by the agency.
- Maintains confidentiality as required by HIPAA and agency standards.

Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing and sitting.
- Ability to visually observe clients in the workplace.
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Coursework in Business, Human Resources, and/or Vocational Rehabilitation including technical knowledge of job development, placement strategies and business operations.
- Experience working with individuals in a supportive role.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- No criminal convictions substantially related to position.
