Domestic Violence awareness month

Over the month of October, we wear purple to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The goal of highlighting this cause in October is to help individuals realize when they are in a mentally or physically abusive relationship, empower them to leave, and give them the support and resources to do so. Domestic Violence affects more people than you may think, as is evident through these statistics:

Here is a note from our Outreach office in Chippewa Falls:
At Outreach, we support many individuals who are either actively involved in a domestic violence relationship or who are fleeing a domestic violence relationship. We try to provide the safest, simplest ways for them to get connected and receive support in our community, or in the community they are fleeing to. We work closely with the Family Support Center, Bolton Refuge House, and another DV shelter up north (they remain anonymous), ensuring that anyone who wants the help leaving the relationship is able to have a safe option to refuge to. We provide transportation assistance when needed, hygiene supplies, and supply them with household items when they are starting over after leaving everything behind through the use of the Community Cupboard.
